How Virtual Interpretation Works (And Why It's Just as Good)

March 8, 2026 · 4 min read

One of the most common questions I get is: "Is virtual interpretation as good as in-person?" The short answer is yes — and in many cases, it's even more convenient.

How a Virtual Session Works

Before the session: You book online, selecting your service, date, and time. I send you a confirmation email with a Zoom link (or we can use Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or a phone call — whatever works best for you).

During the session: I join the call and provide real-time interpretation between English and Portuguese. If it's a three-way call (like a doctor's appointment), I interpret consecutively — the speaker talks, then I translate. For meetings with multiple participants, I can provide simultaneous interpretation with the right setup.

After the session: You receive a summary if needed, and you can book your next session right from the confirmation page.

When Virtual Interpretation Works Best

Telehealth appointments: More doctors than ever offer virtual visits. Having an interpreter on the same Zoom call makes the experience seamless for both you and your healthcare provider.

Attorney consultations: Many immigration and legal consultations happen over video now. Virtual interpretation keeps everything confidential and efficient.

Remote business meetings: If your team is meeting with Brazilian partners on Zoom, I can join the call from anywhere and facilitate the conversation in real-time.

Out-of-state clients: You don't have to be in Orlando to work with me. Virtual sessions are available for clients anywhere in the US, in any time zone.

Tips for a Great Virtual Interpretation Session

Use headphones. This reduces echo and makes it easier for everyone to hear clearly.

Find a quiet space. Background noise makes interpretation harder. A quiet room with a closed door works best.

Speak at a normal pace. You don't need to slow down dramatically, but avoid talking over each other. Pause briefly after a few sentences to give the interpreter time to translate.

Have your documents ready. If we're discussing specific documents, have them on screen or in front of you so I can reference them.
